Winter Theatre School Workshops Announced by Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – From Puppets to Make-up to Stage Combat and more, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble announces its winter theatre school workshop line-up with one day Saturday classes for all ages!

These classes have an early class from 10 am to 12:30 pm for 5–8-year-olds and a 2 pm – 5 pm class for 9- to 12-year-olds. Begin with an Introduction to Acting on January 6 and learn the fundamentals of acting in this engaging and entertaining class. Focus on character development and creation in the fun Character Creation class on January 13 th . Create and perform with some amazing puppets in the Puppet workshop on January 27 th .

For our slightly older students, we have the following Saturday classes from 10 am to 1 pm for 9-12 year-olds and 2 pm – 5 pm for 13-18 year-olds. Explore the fundamentals of Improv on January 20 th and the ins and outs of Stage Combat on February 3 rd . Create some horrifying and gruesome makeup tricks with Stage Makeup on February 10 th .

Our instructors for this winter’s Theatre Workshops are BTE Education Director Abigail Leffler, Resident Acting Company members Elizabeth Dowd and Aaron White, BTE Stage Manager A’nie Kirchner and BTE guest artist, Violet Race. Classes will be held at BTE’s Theatre School space at the First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Enrollment costs $90 per class, but financial aid is available. Fall Theatre School Workshops Announced by Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Mythology-loving kids and teens are encouraged to sign up for the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s Fall Theatre School: Greek Mythology Mayhem! Classes start on October 10th and run 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesdays, children ages 5-8 can experience “Greek Mythology Stories.” This 4-week workshop will introduce kids to the most famous Greek myths and legends through performance and storytelling.

Tweens can challenge their acting skills on Wednesdays with “Greek Mythology Masks and Performance.” Everyone will create their own Greek masks to use during the workshop. This workshop is open to children 9 through 12 years old.

13 through 18-year-olds can have an opportunity to dive deeper into Greek mythology’s evolution, Greek history, and acting methodology in the advanced workshop, “Greek Mythology History and Acting” on Thursdays.

Come out and support the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum on Saturday, October 21st,for our Bingo Fundraiser! Doors will open at 12p.m., and cash bingo games will start at 2 p.m.at the Bloomsburg Fire Hall. Come enjoy food, friends, and prizes while supporting the local children’s museum. Special prizes and an Auction will also be available along with rip-off ticket games!

Tickets are $20 a piece, and due to limited seating, we ask that every seat play Bingo.

Friends of the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum to Host 2nd Annual Mom & Son Dinosaur Brunch on Sunday, October 8

The Friends of the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum will host its 2nd Annual Mom and Son Dinosaur Brunch on Sunday, October 8 from 11 am to 2 pm.

Enjoy dino-themed games, crafts, bounce houses, face painting, tractor rides, a brunch buffet, and so much more. Attendees will have a chance to meet special guests from Pennsylvania Dinosaurs during this exclusive event.
Sons may be escorted by Mom, Grandma, Aunt, or any other special person who fits this role.

The event is an important fundraiser for the Museum. Revenue generated at the brunch goes to repairing exhibits, underwriting events, and supporting the many community programs the Museum runs at no cost to attendees.
Michelle Houser, President of the Friends of the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum said, “ The Dinosaur Brunch is my favorite way to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte!
