“Tarrstown Tales: Kris’s Time-Traveling Lewisburg Adventure” Radio Drama
Kicking off this year’s “Celebration of the Arts” on Friday, April 23, is
the premiere of a Dickens-inspired, family-friendly radio play, “Tarrstown
Tales: Kris’s Time-Traveling Lewisburg Adventure.” This original radio
drama will be followed by a short nonfiction film, “The Art of Building
Commissioned by the Lewisburg Arts Council for this year’s two-week
Celebration of the Arts, the radio drama features a diverse cast of
characters, some of whom are drawn from Lewisburg’s past. Bringing these
characters to life is the task of the 30 actors involved in the production.
The actors, ranging in age from 6 to their late 60s, hail from Lewisburg as
well as from Maryland, Virginia, and more!
Airing after the radio drama,“The Art of Building Lewisburg” provides an
opportunity to engage with Lewisburg’s past and learn about the folks who
made the town what we know today. With the help of local historians and
filmographers, this nonfiction feature places four iconic Lewisburg places
on center stage and will surely be of interest to anyone who’s curious to
learn more about this town they’ve grown up in, passed through, or had the
pleasure of visiting.
Both the radio drama and the nonfiction film are the work of producer Dave
Simons, a Lewisburg graduate. Together, the two programs allow the
Lewisburg Arts Council to showcase the work of local writers, actors, and
filmographers and encourage the artists working in these fields.
The drama and short film will be shared with the public as a YouTube video
on the Arts Council’s Facebook page,
