Rohrbach’s Farm: Kid’s Cooking Class

Kid foodies and cooking enthusiasts! Join certified Family Consumer Science teacher, Sharon Kerstetter for our final amazing hands on summer cooking class! Recommended for independent workers ages 10 – 16. During this class participants will be making and tasting a fresh summer salad piled with all locally grown greens and veggies, homemade dressing, deviled eggs and a homemade peach pie, made with Rohrbach’s peaches. During this class students will be learning knife and food safety, kitchen hygiene the nutritional benefits of dark green leafy benefits and other seasonal produce. Students will also learn about the function of eggs and the various ways of preparing eggs. For the peach pie, students will make their own homemade flaky crusts and will learn all about different pie crusts, choosing fruit that is ready for cooking and so much more! Participants will also explore the financial and health benefits of cooking at home verses eating out. This class will be fun, hands on and a delicious experience from start to finish! Kids will come home with the recipes and the knowledge to prepare those recipes at home.
