Cash and Carry Show
December 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm EST
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Monday and Friday, repeating until January 3, 2020
“Cash & Carry VI” open call show
Work due Saturday, November 9th, 2019
Show runs November 11th, 2019, through January 3rd, 2020
Once again, we have panels to give away for you to make artwork on. They come in two sizes, roughly 7″ x 9″, and roughly 9″ x 12″, and you can do ANYTHING with them: paint on them, draw on them, glue collages on them, knit around them, build sculptures on them, carve them into bas-relief copies of the Elgin Marbles — just make sure you have fun with them.
Each artist may take up to three panels to start; when you bring them back with completed artwork on them, you may take more. And we reserve the larger pieces for artists who have a proven record of sales here (even one sale counts). The smaller panels will sell for $30, with the artist receiving $24; the larger panels will sell for $50, with the artist receiving $40. Last year, we sold more than 140 pieces out of the show, so this makes for a great opportunity for artists to break into “the art world”!
We had 425 panels to start with — 377 7×9 and 48 9x12s — and we’ll give ’em away until gone. For Gallery hours, see our “About” page on FB or go to ExchangeArts.org/calendar.
Sales will start the night of the reception (date TBD — either Friday the 29th or Saturday the 30th of November), in the usual way for Cash & Carry shows: All attendees wishing to buy will receive numbers; when sales start, at 6 p.m., the person with #1 may choose one piece from the walls, and if she wants a second piece, she must get another number. So on with #2, #3, etc. This prevents any one buyer from getting “all of the good stuff”, and it makes for a lot of fun.
Oh, and you can pay with cash, check, or charge card; we just like the name “Cash & Carry” — and it does indicate that, unlike our other shows, you may take your artwork home with you right then and there, rather than waiting until the end of the show. They make great holiday gifts!
