BLOOMSBURG, PA—Get ready for a summer of fun and learning as the Columbia County Traveling Library and Bloomsburg Public Library come together for an unforgettable Summer Learning kick-off event. Set to take place on Saturday, June 1st, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this free community festival promises a day of excitement, exploration, and opportunities for discovery for babies, toddlers, and kids entering into Pre-K through 8th grade this fall.

Partnering to bring the community a fun and educational experience, the Columbia County Traveling Library and Bloomsburg Public Library have activities and attractions that will engage and delight visitors of all ages. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a variety of engaging activities and games, including:

● Paper Plate Mazes
● Friendship Bracelet Making
● Alka Seltzer Rockets
● Nature Scavenger Hunt
● Backyard Bouncin-Jungle Obstacle Course

For nature enthusiasts, the Bird Watch Station will provide an opportunity to observe local wildlife up close with binoculars and a bird guide. Meanwhile, the Flashlight Fun Puppet Theater will captivate imaginations with shadow puppetry inside a blackout tent.

Thrill-seekers can put their skills to the test at the Library Olympic Challenge, featuring events such as Book Stacking, Book Balance, and the Fast Alphabet. And for those with a creative streak, Fort Building and Crack the Code activities will spark innovation and problem-solving.

The beloved Princess Rapunzel will join the festivities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., adding a touch of magic to the day’s events. Additionally, community partners, including The Children’s Museum, Rohrbach’s Farm, and The Exchange’s Art Cart, will be on hand to provide additional entertainment and activities.

To top it all off, each attendee will receive a goody bag filled with valuable information about the Summer Learning Programs at the Bloomsburg Public Library and the Columbia County Traveling Library, ensuring that the learning journey continues long after the kick-off event concludes. Free snacks and drinks will be provided.
