Saturday, January 7th

On this day in 1785, Jean Pierre Blanchard and John Jeffries complete the first hot air balloon flight across the English Channel. Learn how hot air balloons work and create your own! Included with Museum Admission.

Storytime from the Birds Nest with Miss Angie
Friday, January 13th
11:15-12:00 p.m.
The Bloomsburg Public Library’s Miss Angie goes to the Museum! Join Miss Angie in the Bird’s Nest, the second Friday of every month for Storytime at 11:15 a.m.! November through April. Recommended for students ages 3-6. Activities are included with Museum Admission.

Special Guest: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
Saturday, January 14th

Join our special guests Hawk Mountain Sanctuary to get an up-close and personal look at one of their educational birds. You will learn about natural history, Pennsylvania native bird identification, and migration information. Included with Museum Admission.

National Squirrel Appreciation Day

Let’s celebrate by enjoying and appreciating our tree-climbing, nut-gathering neighborhood squirrels. It is the middle of winter and food is hard to find for the squirrels. Help them out by making a squirrel feeder for your home! Included with Museum Admission.

Butterflies, LIVE!

10-12:00 p.m.
Join Folk’s Farm at the museum in experiencing a live butterfly enclosure. Learn all about the life cycle of these winged beauties with hands-on activities. Included with Museum admission.

8th Annual Science Fair

Students in grades 7-12 are invited to enter a project in our science fair, which will take place on January 19th, 2023. Registration forms are due no later than January 6th, 2023. CASH PRIZES are awarded to top projects. NASCO gift cards are awarded to top 3 teachers or homeschooling groups with the most students participating. All students receiving first awards will move on to the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Regional Science Fair which takes place in March.

Infectious Intelligence

Middle and High School-aged students will design and build tethered robots using engineering design concepts. Robots will be created to compete in a competition. Sketchup, technical drawing, circuits, mechanical engineering, critical thinking, and mathematical skills will be taught. Class size is limited. Open to grades 6 and up. $140.00 Pizza dinner included.
