BTE’s Production of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley Opens Soon
By Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon
November 29th – December 29th

Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is thrilled to present their Christmas show for their 42nd Season of live entertainment in the region, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley. Under the direction of ensemble member Andrew Hubatsek (who also directed 2011’s Emma), Miss Bennet is a sequel-of-sorts to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The play was written by virtuoso play-maker Lauren Gunderson (author of BTE’s 2018 hit, I and You) and Margot Melcon.

The show follows brainy Mary Bennet (Morgan McKenzie Kauffman, Dorothy in BTE’s The Wizard of Oz), who, while on a Christmas visit to her sister’s English country estate, bumps into the equally brainy (and handsome!) Arthur de Bourgh (BTE Intern Michael Covel). You’ll be rooting for them to get their heads out of their books and under the mistletoe in this rollicking holiday confection. Rounding out the cast are ensemble member Eric Wunsch (The Explorers Club), Amy Rene Byrne (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged), frequent guests McCambridge Dowd-Whipple (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) and Jon Schultz (Something Grimm), and interns Violet Race (A Very Special Christmas Special) and Carly Carman.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley opens  November 29th with BTE’s traditional “Food Preview” At 2pm.  A non-perishable item (or items) is the cost of your ticket. Arrive early to guarantee your seat. Miss Bennet typically plays public shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm. Space is still available for special morning matinees for school groups. The final performance will be held December 29th. Tickets are available at www.bte.org.
