HAK-4-KIDS

Bloomsburg University is hosting their fourth annual BloomCON cyber security conference. To get kids in on the fun, the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum organized the HAK 4-KIDZ event to coincide with the adult conference. Children ages 7-17 are invited to attend kid-friendly presentations and activities on info security, electronics, programming and all kinds of hacks. Parent must attend with child.

Folk Dance: Dances of the World

Join us as we travel around the world moving our bodies to the steps and rhythms of France, Greece, Bulgaria, Israel, Turkey and beyond! We will learn basic dance steps of some fun folk dances as well as interesting information about the countries where they are danced. All ages welcome and no prior dance experience needed. Students in the class are welcome to perform at the Renaissance Jamboree on April 27 and at the Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire on May 4.

Girls Who Code

This free after-school program is for 6th-12th grade girls. Join our sisterhood of supportive peer sand role models using computer science to change the world. Learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages. Work in teams to design a computer science impact project that solves real world problems girls care about. Call the museum to register. Registration cost is free, sponsored by the Arconic Foundation and Williams.

iMAKE Art & Science Spring Class Series

This a-la-carte class series offers both art & science make-&-take projects for children ages 6-12. Pick which projects you like best or try them all. See museum website or class brochure for full calendar of projects. iMAKE Classes run at 4:30 the 1st and 4th Thursdays from February through May. $8/child for each class. Spaces are limited! Call the museum to register. Walk-ins are first come, first served.

Paint Lab: Sculpture 101

A one-hour class exploring and introducing fine art techniques. Scultpure is 3D art created by combining materials with glue, clay, tape or even tin foil! DIY Gift Workshop Series: Fused Glass Pendants

Make a gift for mom or grandma for Mother’s Day! Artisan Becki Fahs will lead our class on making a colorful glass pendant. Ages 6-12 must have an adult, ages 12+ no adult required. Teens and adults are welcome. Class size limited to 20 students. Call the Museum to register.

Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire

The Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire is a Children’s Museum-organized event that is part of the global Maker Faire network created by MAKE Magazine. According to MAKE, “Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.” The event brings together amateur and professional inventors, artists, crafters, engineers and performers in a combination of large spectacles and communal interactive experiences. Admission is free, sponsored by Arconic Foundation through Kawneer.

The Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization with a mission to enrich the lives of people in the 10-county region by fostering a lifelong love of learning through interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination in every child and the child in every visitor.
