This holiday season, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is taking patrons over the rainbow with the classic MGM musical version of The Wizard of Oz, beginning November 23 and ending December 29, 2018. The Wizard of Oz is by L. Frank Baum, with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, and is directed by ensemble member, Richard Cannaday.

When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away to the magical land of Oz. With help from a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion, they dodge witches and talking apple trees in search of the powerful Wizard. Whether you’re new to the yellow brick road or a long-time traveler, join in the fun that will leave you saying “There’s no place like BTE, there’s no place like BTE.” The Wizard of Oz is perfect for all ages, especially for those audiences who are captivated every year by BTE’s holiday show or for those joining the enchantment for the first time.  Be sure to contact the Box Office for group rate opportunities, starting at just eight people.

The 2:00 pm matinee held on November 23 will be Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s annual food preview, in which patrons can attend this general admission show by simply bringing a donation of canned goods or other nonperishable item, which will be given to the local food bank.

Additionally, a special performance of The Wizard of Oz will be interpreted into ASL for the Deaf/hard of hearing community on November 29.

Ticket prices are $30 for a regular adult, $24 for a young adult (ages 30 or younger), $24 for a senior ticket (ages 60 and older), $14 for a student (grade school through college), and $10 for Bloomsburg University students with a valid BU ID. Tickets are available online at www.bte.org or by calling the Box Office at 570-784-8181.
