The Exchange gallery located in downtown Bloomsburg is excited to announce some new options for their annual Cash and Carry show. The show started five years ago as a way to make original art accessible during the holiday shopping season. The show has a simple premise, artists are provided panels (three sizes to choose from this year4″ x 6″, 7″ x 9″, and 10″ x 12″) and asked to express themselves creatively with almost any medium (except for glitter). All panels have a fixed price and the show is hung in a salon style with the intent that any piece can be removed from the wall, paid for, and replaced by a new original piece of art. Pieces are priced at $10 for 4″ x 6″ panels, 7″ x 9″ panels for $25, and $50 for 10″ x 12″ panels.

The opening night for this exhibition is usually a bit of a frenzy as patrons try to scoop up the best pieces before someone else does. New for this year, they will be hosting a preview evening and the opening is slated for Saturday, November 24th.

Artists that would like to participate may pick up panels (up to 3 at a time) at The Exchange during normal gallery hours. All completed works are due back to the gallery by November 10th.

Artist requirements are pretty loose for what can be done with the panels. Paint on them, draw on them, glue photographs on them, build sculptures on them, knit around them, or anything else — entirely up to you.  The gallery will display every one that comes in by the 10th of November from the 12th of November through the 4th of January, with a special preview sale on Saturday, the 17th of November (more details to come about that), and general public sales starting on Saturday, the 24th of November. They will also accept work brought in throughout the run of the show, to fill in spaces as other pieces sell.

The artist will receive 80% of the sale price of each piece. Good luck and get creative!

Special thanks to Gallery committee member Ron Lambert for cutting all of the panels.
